Our Japanese artisan SOMENOYA, a company founded in 1862 in Ibaraki, Japan, recently opened a new manufacturing facility in Barcelona, Spain. Its artisan traditions, dating back more than 160 years, are combined with European organic soybeans to create a rich and full-bodied tofu that nourishes both body and mind. Tradition of tofu making at SOMENOYA dates back to the end of Edo period in Japan.
Artisan techniques and know-how have been passed down for eight generations. SOMENOYA continues tradition by combining it with modern organic practices. Our artisan uses only organic Austrian soybeans and natural Nigari (sea water) for a pure and clean flavor. Japanese tofu is not only good for your health, it is also delicious and practical for many culinary applications.
It is packed with essential nutrients that promote a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Somenoya tofu has a rich soy flavor. It is perfect for Hiya-Yakko, salads and Agedashi tofu, which honor authentic Japanese cuisine. Surprisingly, this tofu can be used as a soy cream in tiramisu, brownies and other desserts.
