The A. and Y domain. Minowa began cultivating tank grapes in the Nagano Prefecture in 2008. The owner, Yasushi Minowa, worked for many years as a doctor. With his knowledge and experience as a wineman, he moved to Nagano Prefecture in 2008 and founded his field. The vineyards are located in the Kurakake and Netsu regions in the city of Tomi. These sweet slope hillsides exposed to the south enjoy an abundant sunshine and a good drainage, which makes them ideal for grape cultivation. The ground was formed by the eruptions of the ASAMA-Kurofush volcanic group, the collapse of the mountains and the runoff of sediments from precipitation that continues since antiquity. The geology and types of diverse soil from the different plots, rich in diversity, constitute one of the main attractions of the cultivation of the grapes in this region. The main varieties grown on the 3 hectares of the estate are limited to grape varieties of Burgundy and Champagne, such as Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, Aligoté and Pinot Blanc. The names of the wines include names associated with local soils such as "Kurakake", "NetSu", "Shutujo" and "Mido", with the aim of accessing the recognition of world-class wines. In 2024, the damage caused by the gel in May resulted in irregular growth of the shoots. Subsequently, a record heat caused early bay, but physiological disorders related to high temperatures slowed this process. In addition, the prolonged rains caused by the typhoon that ended at the end of August in early September, resulted in a widespread proliferation of diseases. Adverse weather conditions continued later, resulting in unprecedented growth failures, such as the inability of red grapes to develop an appropriate color. While many vineyards have opted for early harvest to avoid the risk of illness, Mr Minowa patiently expected the grapes. Thanks to a rigorous tri during the harvest, the domain was able to reap healthy and high quality grapes. The Kurakake Pinot Noir 2024 is a medium-bodied red wine made from Pinot Noir grapes harvested in Kurakake district, in the city of Tomi. The vineyard is located on a south-south-south-west oriented slope, about 750 meters above sea level, between the municipal experimental resort of fruit culture and the village of Deba. The floor belongs to the brown forest soils, ranging from Graleux sandy soil to sandy silt, which produces red wines with a delicate and elegant style.
