Ichibancha Green Tea of Uji

The Kyoto Prefecture is renowned for its high quality tea crops. The leaves of Tea Ichibancha are the very first harvested, at the end of March. These young shoots are deemed very aromatic and have very herbaceous notes.

This rare tea is made from the first leaves of the soil of Dôsenbô, Minamisanjo, Souraku-Gun. The purists, in Kyoto, the plebisite. Indeed, this tea is grown at altitude (400 to 500 meters) and without shading. What's more, the temperature differences between day and night are important and the air is very pure. The new shoots have an elegant aroma. It is softer and easier to drink than ordinary tea. In infusion, tea presents a light yellow color.

Uji Ichibancha tea is particularly popular with Westerners who tend to focus on the aroma. Leaving an impression of sweetness, it is said that it is good to relax or receive. This tea is ideal for accompanying a meal or tasting of pastries.
