The Natsume tea box is an indispensable container at the tea ceremony because it is the container in which Matcha tea is kept. It owes its name to its representative form of the Jujube (Chinese Red Date). It seems that its origin goes back to the 14th century.

It is usually crafted in lacquered wood and requires real maintenance. This is the reason why it is, nowadays, proposed in ABS resin, resistant and easier to maintain.

Natsume is mainly used to keep the matcha used to prepare the usucha, light tea. The Natsume traditionally arbor with a black color and exist mainly in three sizes: great, medium, small.

When you pour the matcha tea into the Natsume or when tea is taken from its box to make the beverage, it is recommended to sift to eliminate any agglomerated tea ball and for better dissolution.
