Shiranui is a hybrid of 3 citrus varieties (citrus unshiu, citrus sinensis and citrus reticulata). It is widely cultivated on the hillsides of Wakayama Prefecture, in the open field, then harvested from March to April.
The fruit is distinguished by a large protuberance at its summit. It is a seedless citrus, with a sweet, savory and sweet pulp.
The Shiranui is well known by another name, the Dekopon, trade mark under which it is identified in the Prefecture of Kumamoto.
