Yuzu ponzu is one of Japan's signature sauces, combining soy sauce, katsuobushi-infused dashi broth, yuzu citrus and usually a little vinegar and mirin.

It is highly appreciated as a condiment for sashimi, shabu shabu, meat or fish tataki, gyoza, cold somen, tempura... Ponzu is also excellent as a marinade or salad dressing.

Kombu gives ponzu sauce same umami flavor as dashi, while citrus juice and vinegar add acidity and soy sauce adds salt.

Word "ponzu" translates as "squeezed juice of sour oranges" in Japanese. This word comes from the Dutch "pons", meaning "punch", which later became ponsu, a "drink of mixed ingredients". Finally, suffix "su" was replaced by "zu", meaning "vinegar".

Our yuzu ponzu spicy is very fresh and vegetal, with a lovely acidity and just the right hint of spiciness. This light spiciness is a salivating experience. We recommend it for raw vegetables, shellfish salads, beef tataki, fish tartare, scallop carpaccio, grilled fish (sardines, mackerel, sea bream), boiled vegetables and poached oysters.

This spicy yuzu ponzu contains no animal products and is guaranteed free from colorants and additives of any kind.

In year 2 of the Taisho era (1913), my great-grandfather founded "Goto Shoyu Jyouzoumoto (Goto Shoyu Brewery)" in the town of Kitakyushu. Our factory is located on a small hill, a five-minute walk from the shopping district that the locals frequent every day.
