Description

The komodaru or sakadaru is a barrel used for storing sake for more than three hundred and fifty years.
In its traditional and luxurious version, it is made from cedar wood.
This type of barrel has no pouring system or tap; it is therefore necessary to fill it and then seal its removable lid, or to open it by breaking the lid. This gives rise to a Shinto ceremony: the kagami biraki.
The komodaru is covered with a straw mat and a rope made of rice straw, to protect it from the elements.

In Japan, these komodaru are intended as offerings in Shinto temples but are also used to inaugurate sales points, to celebrate many festivals and ceremonies with a good-luck connotation.

This komodaru is perfectly suited for wedding ceremonies, anniversaries, celebrations of exam success, inaugurations...

The sake contained in this komodaru, with its light, subtle aroma, exudes fruity, lactic, fresh notes with hints of fresh grass, nashi pear, and fresh almond.
