Minoyaki rice bowls, Mino ceramics
Minoyaki porcelain, renowned for its exceptional quality, is produced in the Mino region, located in Gifu Prefecture in central Japan. This tradition dates back to the 7th century, when firing took place in kilns dug into the hillsides, primarily in the towns of Tajimi, Toki, Mizunami and Kani.
Today, Minoyaki porcelain is the most popular in Japan, recognised for its subtle variations in shade, unique texture and the quality of the materials used. The glaze is applied at a temperature of 1,300°C, ensuring a smooth and glossy finish thanks to polishing and smoothing stages. High-temperature firing eliminates moisture and impurities, giving this tableware exceptional resistance and durability.
