Le Comptoir des Poivres

For several years we have been seeking out products of unsuspected quality with the same philosophy: sourcing products directly from the places of production, refusing any chemical treatment both on the plant and on the product and a fortiori any irradiation (hypocritically called ionisation), ensuring that the people working on these plantations work in optimal conditions, demanding numerous sorting stages to keep only exceptional grains or berries, refusing long storage and delivering products without intermediaries, that is to say with maximum traceability.

Le Comptoir Des Poivres

We are proud to be grocers and wish to restore the nobility of this profession. Le Comptoir des Poivres is a grocer and proud of it. A team of epicureans and enthusiasts who have spent years tracking down peppers and spices of impeccable quality, in search of new and surprising sensations by travelling through India, Iran, Madagascar, Nepal, and Mexico. Le Comptoir des Poivres offers you today an exceptional choice of black, white, red, long, or tailed peppers, as well as spices such as coriander, cacao, cinnamon, and the superb Néguine Saffron from Targh. Le Comptoir des Poivres presents its range of whole dried chillies from Mexico, its blended salt compositions, wild black Sansho from Bhutan, Madagascar Curry, an exceptional and exclusive Arcoiris pepper blend, Rose petals from Isfahan, as well as an incredible bunch of organic green pepper from the Bolaven Plateau in Laos, and many other new discoveries to explore throughout the year. The peppers and spices are packaged in attractive metal tins, away from light and with no treatment whatsoever, to preserve all their flavours. For the most discerning lovers of taste.

Personalised kokeshi dolls and good luck charms

Giving a Kokeshi doll is not a trivial gesture. According to popular belief, these figurines convey hidden messages and bring happiness and prosperity. They are particularly appreciated for celebrating events such as birthdays, where they become personalised and meaningful gifts. Whether you are a lover of Japanese art or astrology, Kokeshi dolls offer a double promise: a rich cultural heritage and a timeless aesthetic. Old or modern models, particularly those inspired by Japanese zodiac signs, enrich any collection with their symbolism and artisanal beauty. Add to your home or give as a gift a unique piece of Japanese folk art that continues to fascinate across the ages.

Kokeshi dolls and zodiac signs: a blend of tradition and modernity

Modern kokeshi explore more varied designs, including versions dedicated to zodiac signs. These figurines, combining traditional craftsmanship and astrological symbolism, captivate with their originality. Each sign is represented through specific motifs and colours, evoking the associated personality traits.

Japanese spoon: a touch of art at your table

Beyond their practical use, Japanese spoons are true works of art. Their minimalist and refined aesthetic harmonises perfectly with any type of décor, whether a traditional table setting or a more contemporary arrangement. These spoons bring a note of elegance to every meal, transforming ordinary moments into memorable ones.

A design conceived for every dish

Whether you are a tea lover, a passionate cook or simply looking for an aesthetic and functional utensil, our Japanese spoons meet all your needs. Their ergonomic design ensures a comfortable grip, making it easy to serve and enjoy your favourite dishes and drinks. Discover our rice spoon: its flat, slightly curved shape allows rice to be served without crushing it, thus preserving the light, airy texture of the grains. The rice spoon is also non-stick and designed to prevent the grains from sticking. Opt for a ramen spoon: the depth and ergonomic shape of this porcelain spoon are perfectly suited for easily scooping up the broth along with the various ingredients, while making them easy to enjoy. Models fitted with notches allow them to be hooked over the edge of a bowl, offering a practical solution for enjoying your meal without having to place the spoon directly on the table. We also offer a bamboo spoon version. In Japan, the chashaku, or matcha tea spoon, is an indispensable utensil for preparing matcha, the famous powdered green tea. Made from natural bamboo, it allows the ideal quantity of powder needed to obtain a perfectly balanced drink to be measured with precision. Used in the tea ceremony, the chashaku embodies the simplicity and elegance of Japanese art, while respecting the ancestral traditions linked to matcha culture.
