KANESHO TOUKI

Founded in 1872 by Kan'ichirō Sawada in Toki (Gifu Prefecture), the Kanesho Toki house specialises in Mino ceramics, a tradition cherished for centuries, particularly by tea ceremony masters such as Sen no Rikyū. Renowned for the richness of its styles and colours (Oribe, Shino, Kise-to, Seto-kuro), this ceramic tradition is rooted in a region where history, artisanal expertise and a passion for pottery are passed down from generation to generation.

For more than 150 years, Kanesho Toki has been working to promote Mino pottery in Japan and internationally, with a mission to preserve and pass on this cultural heritage. Today, its workshops are located at the top of the Shizuki Pass in Toki.
The company's premium creations are sold under the Shizuki-gama brand, developed by Yoshio Sawada, the fourth-generation family representative and founder of the Kiraku-an gallery and tea room at the company's headquarters.

Under the current leadership of Atsushi Sawada, the fifth generation of the family, Kanesho Toki continues a philosophy that combines respect for tradition with innovation, with the ambition of creating unique pieces capable of moving and surprising people, and of lastingly conveying the charm of Mino pottery throughout the world.
