The Kaginushi family, fishermen from generation to generation, takes advantage of winter, the off-season, to manufacture barbecues made from diatomaceous earth.
Founded in 1932, the winter activity was initially dedicated to the production of traditional bricks and tiles, before specialising from 1953, in collaboration with Insolite Industry Co., Ltd., in Suzu diatomaceous earth bricks. Having become Kaginushi Industry Co., LTD in 1961, the company focuses on insulating refractory bricks, diatomaceous earth products and Noto tiles, and today employs 25 people under the management of Sunao Kaginushi and the chairmanship of Tetsu Kaginushi.
