Shoyu (salty)

The shoyu sauce is a central ingredient of Japanese culinary culture and beyond. It is recognisable by its dark colour and its rich, umami flavour.  The shoyu is produced from soya beans and wheat, mixed with water and salt. This mixture is then left to ferment naturally for a minimum of one year to 38 years before being pressed. Shoyu sauce can be used in marinades, sauces, soups, dressings and as a condiment.
