This flask is fully hand made by a craftsman with ancestral know-how. The paint is handmade and the finish is done according to a multi-centenary lacquering technique. In Japan, there is only one oven having the ability to produce this quality, a true collaboration of traditional trades of lacquering and mino-yaki.

According to GIFU Prefecture, "Mino Ceramics (Mino Yaka in Japanese) refers to the pottery made mainly in the eastern GIFU prefecture, in the cities of Tajimi, Toki, Mizunami and Kani. Currently, Mino ceramics accounts for about 50% of the total ceramic production in Japan (GIFU Economic and Industrial Promotion Center, 2017 Ceramics industry).

Mino ceramics has a long history of more than 1,300 years, whose 7th century Kofun period is thought in the Tono region, in Gifu's prefecture, when the earthenware hard Sueki was cooked in furnaces Anagama, an old style of mountain flank ovens.

Prior to the First World War, European countries exported from dishes around the world. However, they have become unable to manufacture these products because of the war, which has led to the growth of Japanese exports. As a result, in the south-east of Gifu, where the ceramics industry was already active, the number of manufacturers and the size of the facilities have further increased. After the Second World War, some potters proved that Momoyama-to ceramics were derived from the Mino region, which resulted in an increase in the number of Mino ceramists.

Currently, the Tono region (south-east of GIFU) has the largest share of pottery production in Japan ".
