It is best used parsimoniously to spice up your soups, stocks, ramen and udon noodles, soy sauce (with sashimi), vegetables woks, pastas, fried rice, pizzas, carpaccios, marinates, or, more surprisingly, with beer!

Created with the ambition of promoting local products and re launching in this way the economic activity of an agricultural region which has become progressively depopulated over these last decades.

In fact, the presence of numerous typhoons, the unending changes in climate, the very traditional nature of the local economy, didn't help to keep the young generations in the family farming businesses.

So Shimazakeya bases all its activity on going back to the beginnings and on genuine products.
The raw material used is exclusively Japanese and mainly local.

Part of the profits made from the business is put back into the Association for the Protection of the Kumejima Marine Environment. The aim of this association is to protect the firefly and coral populations.
