Binchotan from Laos is made from special tree, Cratoxylum cochinchinense and Cratoxylum formosum, Hypericaceae specy and its subspecies Cratoxylum pruniflorum.
This charcoal, of excellent quality, has a little less density at a bit different heating power, slightly lower. Its method of manufacture is identical as Tosa Binchotan and controlled by Japanese Masters.
For comparison, the hardness of Tosa binchotan is 17 to 20 degrees against 16 to 18 degrees for that of Laos.
