In the heart of Yamagata prefecture can be found a specialist in the selection and sale of the best in Japanese rice, renowned all over the world for its exceptional quality: Marushichi. Since 1844 it has been working with three hundred handpicked farmers, real rice craftsmen who grow and work their rice by hand with total respect for traditional methods.
Yamagata rice is such a delicacy because it benefits from the best possible conditions to develop, from sowing to harvest. In the Iide region, where the silica rich soil is particularly fertile, the paddy fields have an ideal climate and an extremely pure water source in the Mogami river which irrigates them. The result : Yamagata rice selected by Marushichi is of an extraordinary quality, resistance, homogeneity and whiteness.
